The Product Insights Report is the deepest per-product view in Studio. It shows the 0–100 WISEscore for one product alongside the full 15-metric breakdown across the three pillars (Nutrient Quality, Ingredient Quality, Health Outcomes) — benchmarked to your brand average. This article explains how to read it and how to act on it.
What the report shows
For any single claimed product, the Product Insights Report displays:
- The Product WISEscore — 0–100, with the same methodology used everywhere else in Studio
- Brand average comparison — how this product scores vs your portfolio's average WISEscore
- The three pillar scores — Nutrient Quality, Ingredient Quality, Health Outcomes — each as its own 0–100 with its contribution to the total
- The 15 underlying metrics — every metric in every pillar, with individual scores and how each rolls into the pillar
- Driver explanations — for any low-scoring metric, what's pulling the score down
- Comparable products — best- and lowest-performing products in your portfolio for the same metric
The three pillars and what they include
Nutrient Quality
Carbohydrate Quality, Fat Quality, Fiber Density, Protein Density, Sugar Density.
Ingredient Quality
UPF status, Clean Label, Banned/Unsafe ingredients, Emulsifiers of Concern, Seed Oils of Concern.
Health Outcomes
Anti-Inflammatory, Diabetes Friendly, Gut Health, Heart Healthy, Muscle Health.
Each metric is scored within its pillar, then weighted into the pillar score, then weighted into the overall WISEscore.
How to read the report
- Start with the WISEscore and brand average. Is this product above or below your brand average?
- Look at the pillar scores. Which of the three pillars is dragging the WISEscore down — or pulling it up?
- Drill into the metric detail. Within the weakest pillar, identify which 1–2 metrics are doing the most damage
- Read the driver explanation. The report tells you specifically what's pulling each metric down (which ingredient, which nutrient, which threshold the product crosses)
- Compare to your best performer. The report surfaces your best-performing product on the same weak metric — that's often the reformulation template
What to do with the report
For below-average products:
- Identify the single weakest metric — it's usually the highest-leverage fix
- Use the driver explanation to know exactly what to change (ingredient, nutrient ratio, etc.)
- Cross-reference the Reformulation Roadmap for proven swaps
For above-average products:
- These are your marketing leaders — feature in retailer pitches, investor decks, sustainability reporting
- Use the strongest pillar in consumer-facing messaging (e.g., a high Health Outcomes pillar supports anti-inflammatory or heart-healthy positioning)
- Build the brand story around what these products do well
Common questions
Why is my WISEscore lower than I expected given my pillar scores? The WISEscore weights all three pillars. A product strong in two pillars but weak in one will see the weak pillar drag the composite. Look at which pillar is the outlier.
Can I see why a specific metric scored the way it did? Yes — every metric has a driver explanation. Open the metric in the report to see what's contributing.
Does the Product Insights Report show category benchmarks? The score is benchmarked to your brand average. Category-level benchmarking (how does this product compare to other brands in the same category) is on the roadmap.
Can I export this report? Yes — every Studio report exports as a branded PDF. See Exporting and Sharing Studio Reports.
Why are some metrics blank for some products? Some metrics depend on data WISEcode doesn't have yet for that product (e.g., a missing nutrient on the NFP, or an ingredient that doesn't trigger a particular metric). Update the product data via the data ingestion chat in Portfolio and the metrics will repopulate.
