In WISEcode AI, your Portfolio is no longer live by default. Every product lives first in your brand’s private workspace, and nothing reaches shoppers until you Publish it. This article explains the difference and what it changes day to day.
Private workspace
Your private workspace is where everything you do lives first. You can add, edit, test, bulk-import, and reject products there without any of it affecting the WISEcode consumer app. Products in your private workspace feed your own analysis — dashboards, chat answers, scores — as soon as they meet a minimum bar: a product name and an ingredient list. There is no claim step.
Publish and Live
Publish is the action that moves a product from your private workspace to the WISEcode consumer mobile app. Live means shoppers can see it in the app. A product can only be published once it has nothing missing and its UPC falls under a GS1 prefix granted to your organization.
The three publishing states
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Needs work | Something must be added before you can publish — Nutrition Facts, an ingredient check, ingredients, UPC, GS1 prefix, or name. |
| Ready to publish | Nothing missing. Publish when you are ready. |
| Published | In the WISEcode app. Shoppers see it. |
Published with pending edits
When you edit a product that is already Live, the current version stays in the app while your changes wait in your private workspace. Chat offers two options as you finish an edit:
- Publish edits — push the new version to shoppers now.
- Keep saved only — keep the changes in your workspace and publish later.
Products with unpublished edits still count as Published (the live version is real) and also show under “Is anything waiting on you?” until you publish or discard the edits.
How to publish
- One product: when you add or edit a product in chat, it prompts you to publish as soon as the product is complete.
- Many products: open the Publish what’s ready Fix Group in Portfolio, or ask chat to “publish all ready products.”
What this means if you migrated from WISEcode Intelligence
Products you had already Claimed or Verified are treated as Published, so they are still in the app. Products that were discovered but never claimed now sit in your private workspace as Needs work or Ready to publish, and you choose when they go live. See the migration FAQ for the full mapping.
Common questions
Does an unpublished product count in my analysis? Yes. Once it has a name and ingredients it appears in your dashboards and chat answers, even before you publish.
Can I take a product back out of the app? Yes. Use the clean-up and remove bulk action in Portfolio, or ask chat.
Why won’t a product publish even though it is complete? Its UPC is probably not under a GS1 prefix granted to your organization. See Why can’t I publish these products? GS1 prefix at the publish gate.
