Competitive Analysis puts your portfolio head-to-head with a brand of your choice, with the same WISEcode methodology applied to both. In WISEcode AI it is an interactive dashboard — My Brand vs. Competitor, in your Library — and a chat capability rather than a one-off report.
How to run a comparison
- From the WISEcode AI home — open the Competitive Analysis pathway card (“Compare brands”). Your portfolio is pre-loaded as the baseline; choose the brand to compare against.
- From chat — ask: “Compare my brand to [competitor]” or “How does my cereal line stack up against [competitor]’s on UPF?” Chat builds the comparison and can save it to your Library as a dashboard.
Any brand in WISEcode’s catalog is eligible. You do not need permission from the other brand, and they do not see that you compared against them.
What the comparison shows
- Non-UPF share — what percentage of each portfolio classifies as Non-UPF vs UPF
- Top ingredient drivers — which ingredients account for the largest gap between the two brands
- Best and worst performing products on each side
Ask chat to go deeper: compare within a single category, compare on sugar penalty alone, or list the specific products on the other side that beat yours.
When to use it
- Competitive benchmarking — validate that your line is cleaner than your closest competitor
- Retailer conversations — a data-backed answer when a buyer asks “how do you compare to [competitor]?”
- Internal strategy — measure the gap to a brand you compete with or aspire to
Limits and caveats
- Coverage — the comparison covers products in WISEcode’s catalog for each brand, which may understate a competitor’s full range.
- Data freshness — catalog data may lag a competitor’s reformulation.
- Category at a time — for brands that compete across several categories, run separate comparisons per category for a fair read.
Using the comparison externally
The comparison is directional, not a public verification. Share freely with your team, board and investors; share with buyers under standard NDA practice. For public marketing, frame it as “according to WISEcode data as of [date],” avoid disparaging language, and do not claim verification on the competitor’s behalf. WISEcode does not warrant the public use of competitive comparisons in advertising. For a press release or earnings call, talk to your account team first.
Common questions
Can I compare against several brands at once? The dashboard runs two brands head-to-head. Ask chat for a multi-brand view and it will tell you what it can build.
Can I save and share the comparison? Yes. Comparisons built through chat are saved to your Library and shared across your organization.
The brand I want is not in the catalog. Submit a request naming the brand and your use case; a member of the WISEcode team will review and get back to you.
