NFP Exception: When a Product Has No Nutrition Facts Panel

Some products legitimately carry no Nutrition Facts panel. The template handles these with a dedicated flag so the importer does not treat the empty nutrition columns as missing data.

How to flag the row

Set the NFP Exception column to Y. Then fill in only:

• UPC
• Product Name
• Brand
• Ingredient List

Leave the serving size columns and every nutrition and %DV column blank. Do not type zeros — a zero would be read as a declared value of zero.

Why the ingredient list is still required

Processing level and non-UPF assessment are driven by ingredients, not by the nutrition panel. An NFP-exempt product can still be scored on its ingredients, so the ingredient list remains mandatory.

If the product does have a panel

Leave NFP Exception blank and complete the row as a regular product. Using the exception to skip nutrition data you simply have not gathered yet will leave the product without the values needed for a complete profile.
