In WISEcode AI, adding or editing a product is one conversation. The separate Add Food and Edit Food tools and the separate ingredient verification step from WISEcode Intelligence are gone. Chat guides the intake, verifies ingredients as the recipe is built, shows what is still missing, and takes you all the way to Publish without leaving the conversation.
Where to start
Chat is one click away from every surface — Portfolio, Library, Marketplace and the WISEcode AI home — and it knows what you are looking at. Open it from a product row to edit that product, or from anywhere and name the product by UPC.
Adding a product
- Guided intake. Chat asks for the basics one piece at a time: name, UPC, pack format, ingredients, nutrition panel. It accepts pasted copy, photos of a label, spec sheet PDFs, or typed values.
- Inline ingredient verification. As the ingredient list comes in, each ingredient is matched to the WISEcode catalog in the same conversation. Ambiguous matches are resolved right there — you pick the correct ingredient from a short list.
- What’s missing, at every stage. Chat surfaces the remaining gaps as it goes (missing UPC, missing Nutrition Facts, GS1 prefix mismatch) so you always know what is still needed to publish.
- Publish. When the product is complete, chat prompts you to publish. Confirm and the product goes live in the WISEcode app, or keep it saved in your private workspace for later.
Editing a product
Tell chat what to change: “Update the ingredients on UPC 012345678905 to: …”, “The serving size on this product should be 30 g, not 28 g”, “Attach this image as the front of pack.” Chat shows what it understood and asks you to confirm before saving. Changed ingredients are re-verified inline.
If the product is already Published, chat offers two chips when you finish:
- Publish edits — push the new version to shoppers now.
- Keep saved only — keep the changes in your workspace. The live version stays as it was, and the product shows “Edits waiting to publish” until you publish them.
Tips for accurate results
- Paste ingredient lists exactly as printed on the label. Chat handles standard label punctuation.
- Refer to products by UPC when you have several flavors or sizes.
- Double-check nutrition numbers before you confirm — decimal placement matters.
- For a full catalog, use the CSV upload under + Add in Portfolio instead; chat is for one-at-a-time work and quick edits.
If chat gets something wrong
Chat always asks you to confirm before saving. Tell it what is wrong (“the calories should be 110, not 100”) and it re-reads and shows the corrected version. If a record still will not come right, submit a request with the UPC and a member of the WISEcode team will review it and get back to you.
What refreshes after a change
Your dashboards and chat answers reflect the new data immediately. Shoppers see the change in the WISEcode app once you publish the edits.
Common questions
Do I need to re-verify after a reformulation? Updating the ingredient list re-runs ingredient verification and rescoring automatically. If the product holds a NON-UPF Verified Shield, the new formulation needs to be verified again before the Shield applies to it.
Can chat fix typos in ingredient names? Yes. It matches against the WISEcode catalog and proposes the canonical name; you confirm before it is saved.
Same formulation in several sizes? Every UPC must be added individually. Each is a distinct product in WISEcode and in the consumer app.
Variety packs? Not in the Beta. Add the individual flavors as their own products.
Is my data private? Your portfolio data is private to your organization. Nothing goes to shoppers until you publish.
